Guyanese Inspiration

We are the first beauty company to base our skincare on Guyanese Rainforest botanical, Bootlace Tree Extract, known for its skin firming, toning and anti-aging properties. The Bootlace tree bark extract targets a type of aging called inflammaging caused by elements of our daily lives, like sun rays, stress, toxins, smoking, alcohol, environmental stressors and many more. With daily application, Bootlace Extract has been clinically proven to delay the visible signs of inflammaging, including loss of elasticity, firmness and tonicity.  In Guyana, local Amerindians have traditionally used the Bootlace Tree bark and resin for toothaches, wound healing and to ease joint pains.

To compliment the benefits of Bootlace Bark Extract, each of our products contain high-performing botanical actives with skin-renewing effects.  Our product regimen is grounded in simplicity and harmony.

Many people around the world know quite little about the South American nation of Guyana. From the unadulterated rainforest to its unique culture, Guyana is a fascinating country that is mostly uninhabited; just under three-quarters of Guyana is made up of dense rainforest.  It is also home to one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls, Kaieteur Falls.  Guyana is considered to be a Caribbean nation, and it happens to be the only English-speaking nation in South America.  We hope you are inspired to learn more about this intriguing country through our brand.

Our Founder, and the Name Auvê

Hi, I’m Angella Sprauve, founder and Chief Alchemist of Auvê Beauty. I’m so honored to share my beauty inspiration with the world.

I was born in New York and raised in California; my father was a New Yorker with roots from the Virgin Islands, and my mother from Guyana. So, needless to say, I grew up with Caribbean culture close to my heart: festive music, pure foods, and simple beauty rituals taught by my mom growing up. These rituals were proven to be effective, many of which started from the inside out: Staying consistent drinking teas for internal cleansing, taking cod-liver oil for clear skin, and breaking fresh aloe plants for skin hydration. From my childhood, beauty has always been an inside job.

When I began my career as a chemist in 2000, I wanted to create a line that was informed by my upbringing, and also share my knowledge of science in beauty.  I created my brand name, Auvê, over 10 years ago, from my last name, Sprauve.  Then, as my career as a product innovator progressed, I saw a need for the modern-day women on the go, like myself, who desires natural, potent, lifestyle-driven products to empower her life; and Auvê Beauty was born.

In 2016, I decided to evolve my brand and begin developing products. The richness of my heritage goes into every product I create. My mission is to empower women to take beauty and self-care into their own hands, day-in, day-out, to infuse a healthy – and stylish – lifestyle into her beauty routine. Eventually, I hope to share gems of Guyana and Guyanese culture with the world, while encouraging women to embrace a positive lifestyle to bring about beauty every day.
